Our Mission & Vision

The mission  is to love God, to love others, and to magnify the name of Jesus Christ. The vision of our church is to glorify our God and Savior, Jesus Christ, to make true disciples throughout all the nations by means of missionary activity and support, to minister the ordinances, to edify believers, and to do all that is sovereignly possible and biblically permissible to magnify the name of Jesus.

Our leadership team recognizes the authority of God, and realizes that we are shepherds who serve under the Chief Shepherd, Jesus Christ. We desire to devote ourselves to prayer and to the ministry of the Word. Our passion and goal is to equip the believers for the work of the ministry until we all attain maturity in the fullness of Christ.

“God’s truth and grace help shape who we are.  My study of God’s Word goes back to attending St. John’s Jr. Coll., Winfield, KS, from 1971-73.  Professors challenged me to read and to understand the Bible and many other works.  The last 40 years have been a process of coming to see more clearly God’s great wisdom and love.  St. John’s Lutheran Church, Okarche, is a wonderful congregation for seeking God and encouraging one another to live fully in truth and love.”

 

 

 

 

Vicar Klade serves St. John’s part-time as assistant pastor.  His duties include serving in worship which includes preaching, young adult Bible class, Senior high youth, adult confirmation classes, and assists the pastor in other areas of ministry.   He is in the Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, Specific Ministry Pastor Program.  It is four years of Seminary study with ordination after the second year.  SMP provides quality pastoral formation in response to the mission needs of the church.  SMP pastors fill a need where a full-time pastor is unable to serve.  They may continue towards a Master of Divinity degree after the four years.  When Vicar Klade is not doing ministry at St. John’s, you can find him in his full-time work of farming and ranching.  He is married to his beautiful wife Kathy of 30+ years, and has three wonderful children - Hannah, John (and his wife, Kristen), and Tom.
